Background:
Does it still exist? A foundation where no money disappears in the pockets of its management, but a foundation of which you know where your money ends up? With that idea in mind, I went to Advizo on a sunny Friday afternoon. I had one question: would you be willing to support this project by covering overhead expenses? They did. Two weeks later I boarded a plane, went to Nepal and shot a short film to show how your money will be used to make a difference.
What?
Once, I fell in love with Nepal. I was moved when I saw how much the country is struggling to recover from the devastating earthquake that hit in 2015. Last winter I went to the Bungamati region, just south of the vibrant city of Kathmandu. I visited four schools where they lack running water, toilets and a schoolyard. Schools where sports are being taught out of a book, rather than actually playing and participating. Kids get to schools on flipflops, because shoes are a luxury they cannot afford.
Why?
Did you know that in our western society, we are at the very top of the pyramid of most wealthy people in the world? Now that I am 35 years old, I simply cannot travel for pleasure only. I want to give back. I do think we all have the right to dream, but in order to dream one needs access to education. Education in decent circumstances.
How?
